It is my privilege to be chairperson of Mitchelstown Tidy Towns, joined by 8 fantastic workstream leaders. Mitchelstown is great: everyone is pulling together and loving it!

We are lucky to live in such a well preserved Georgian town. Our work prioritises amenities such as age friendly resources in a way that is sentitive to the character of the town.

Our priority is increasing our planting in the town centre and residential areas, with a focus on supporting biodiversity. We also repair and replace storm damanged trees.

In 2025 Mitchelstown make incresible progress, taking 2nd place in the anti-litter challenge. This year we continue the focus on cigarette butts and sign cleaning, repair and replacement.

Mitchelstown is in an area of rich farmland and we are constantly seeking ways to support biodiversity and enhance our natural resources and habitats for the whole community.

From pre-loved fashion to zero food waste, Mitchelstown operates many great policies. This year we will focus on locally grown food in partnership with local cafes and schools.

The approach into Mitchelstown is breathtaking. Our work is focussed on day-to-day efforts to keep approaches tidy while planning for longer term improvement work.

The best thing about being Mitchelstown's postman is seeing the fantastic community spirit across our residential areas! We'll be out to support more residential groups this year.

As an artist, I love leading this area. We have so many things to celebreate in Mitchelstown and concepts such as the ladybug trail bring important issues to life for the community.
In 2024 people from across the community came together to form this Tidy Towns group including Mitchelstown Age Friendly, Business Association, Commuity Council, Heritage Society and AROMA residents association. We are also very well supported by many schools, sports clubs and groups from across the community with over 500 active volunteers. We have a large variety of projects planned under the leadership of each team for 2026 - if you'd like to join us and bring your talents to the areas you're interested in - be sure to get in touch!
