Welcome to Mitchelstown, Heart of the Golden Vale and home to a thriving rural community.
This mural celebrates St. Brigid and the important arrival of Spring each year, bringing our community to life.
Before children had tablets in school, Mitchelstown families made an annual pilgrimage to Hyland's for their books. This mural celebrates Hyland's and the many families who serve the community of Mitchelstown to keep our town vibrant.
Mitchelstown Leisure Centre is a haven of creativity for our schools population with an oustanding pocket forest. This new mural at MLC celebrates the next generation, painted by our three local secondary schools with Dima's creative direction.
Dmitrii and Olena Aksiutenko fled Ukraine in 2022 following the Russian invasion and after relocating through many parts of Europe and Ireland, they finally found a place to call home in Mitchelstown.
Both Dima and Olena are talented artists, with Dima in particular having a focus on street art while Olena has an exceptional talent for transforming concepts into design.
As a 'thank you' to the community of Mitchelstown for their warm welcome, Dima and Olena have partnered with many local groups to create a meaningful series of murals around Mitchelstown to give residents and visitors a moment to stop and reflect and celebrate everything that is wonderful about this very special community at the heart of the Golden Vale.
Over the past 2 years our talented artists from all over Mitchelstown and our surrounding neighbourhoods have come together to give our electricity boxes a 'glow-up'.
Tucked amongst their beautiful murals you will spot lots of ladybugs hidden for you to discover. If you need a little assistance, this map will guide the way.
Ladybugs are amazing creatures - not only are they beautiful but they are also one of nature's natural pest controllers, dining on many of the insects that might otherwise damage plants and crops. By avoiding chemical insecticides and supporting habitats for ladybugs, we can let them do their thing - naturally.
