At the heart of the Golden Vale, Mitchelstown has long been synonymous with food excellence. However, like many towns, the pressures of everyday life mean many residents no longer have the skills to grow their own food.

There is significant expertise and ambition among Mitchelstown residents to re-establish the skills needed to plant, grow, harvest and cook locally produced, seasonal food. We have much to learn from the older generations.

A number of planting locations have been selected across the town to showcase a selection of easy-to-grow vegetables which residents can follow along at home, planting their own growing areas.
